My Friday Thought: National high five day - Remember to high five yourself. It counts too, right?

The third Thursday in April observes the National High Five day, an element of mainly North America fun set up to support giving a 'High Five' to everyone you see. I didn't quick go that far, however, it made me think about celebrations of the small things.

Within a team's context celebrating what the team has achieved and reflection on the huddles they have overcome to reach the current destination is important. We don't all work in Greenfield, awesome start-ups where constraints are few and the drinks are free, so a small step in some organisations actually should be seen more as gaint leaps.

Additionally it is typically really easy to see the successes of others, your team, your child, but how good are we are looking internally and reminding ourselves of what we have done, delivered, improved or overcome. So I gave myself a 'high five' for five years of weekly Friday Thoughts, for increasing my monthly steps, and for leading a great team of incredible engineers to great successes.

What are you going to give yourself a high five for?
